Basketball |

The basketball team, the Crusaders, consists of boys in grades 4 - 8. Games are at home and away. Our coaches are Mr. Semsey and Mr. Schama. Practices are held on a regular schedule. The fundamentals of the game and good sportsmanship are stressed. Go Zion! |

Grades 4 - 8 are welcome in the Chess Club. Meetings are held the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month. Students learn the fundamentals and strategies of the game and chess while engaging in chess matches. |

Bolch's Bakers Club |
|
Grades 4-8 are welcome in this "delicious" club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month. Activities include cooking, baking, eating and enjoying scrumptious treats! They have experienced foods from around the United States and the world. The advisor is Zion's third grade teacher, Mrs. Bolch, who is also a professional chef. |

Signing Club

The signing club is open to all Zion's students, K - 8, under the direction of Mrs. Walz, Zion's Kindergarten teacher. The signing club meets once a week on Tuesday afternoons. Activities may include conversations with the deaf, watching sign language videos and conversing using sign language. The signing club also learns different songs and hymns.

Student Government

Zion's Student Government has elected officers and class representatives under the direction of Mrs. Hofmann and Miss Hoglund. The student government meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month. The students raise money for various missions with special lunches and activities.

Touring Handbell Choir

|
This elite group of students in grades 5-8 meets under the direction of Miss Curto once a week on Tuesdays. They perform at special church services, nursing homes and malls to proclaim God's love in music.

This group of K - 3 students, under the direction of Mrs. Walz meets once a week on Wednesdays. They perform at church services and school concerts. Outdoor Education The 4th, 5th and 6th grades experience God's beautiful creation learning about ecology, weather and homesteading at their annual outdoor education experience at Koinonia, Highland Lakes, NY. The 7th and 8th grades experience trust (comfort zone and growth zone) at Spruce Lake, Canadensis, PA. Service Learning Missions Zion helps many organizations with their N.U.T. days - No Uniforms Today. The 4th and 5th grades sell N.U.T. day tickets for $1.00. We have helped people in Haiti, our armed forces, Breast Cancer Awareness, Zelcowa - children in Ghana, Bergen County Hospice, and Lutheran World Relief, just to name a few.
Recycling The 4th and 5th graders do the recycling twice a month. Zion is the only school in Westwood, New Jersey that recycles paper, plastic, aluminum, plastic bags and bottle caps. |
